Mission, Program Objectives, and Program Outcomes of MS and PhD Programs of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bilkent University:
Mission:
The mission of the Graduate Program is to train the graduate students in an
active research environment and equip them with the latest tools of research.
Objectives:
To accomplish this mission, the Program sets forth the following objectives.
The MS and PhD graduates of the Graduate Program will have ability to:
- Creatively use their background in basic sciences and mathematics in
solving engineering problems.
- Use their expertise in certain areas of electrical engineering in
solving engineering problems.
- Innovatively apply design process to complex engineering problems.
- Communicate effectively and to act with social and professional
responsibility in their encounter with those inside and outside the
engineering profession in an international level.
- Innovatively use computers as a tool for simulation, analysis, design,
computing and control.
- Design and carry out experiments with systems and instruments of various
complexities and analyse their findings.
- Creative, critical and model-based thinking and problem solving.
- Ability to do research on important scientific and technical problems.
- Ability to disseminate knowledge and publish research findings.
- Ability to function effectively in multidisciplinary research and
development teams.
Outcomes:
The MS and PhD graduates of the Graduate Program of the Electrical and
Electronics Engineering Department of Bilkent University will have:
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles and recent
trends of some branches of electrical and electronics engineering;
- An innovative ability to formulate and solve incompletely defined
engineering problems in their area of expertise;
- An ability to apply design processes creatively to problems even having
interdisciplinary features;
- An ability to identify, locate, obtain and evaluate required data in
their investigations by way of designing and conducting observations,
modelling, simulation, or experiments;
- A knowledge of the ethical, environmental and commercial constraints on
engineering practice together with an understanding of applicable methods
and techniques in interdisciplinary and complex engineering problems;
- Function and communicate effectively as leader of a team that may be
composed of different disciplines and demonstrate awareness of project
management and business as well as the impact of engineering solutions in a
societal and environmental context.
