Humanities and Social Science Electives

The Humanities and Social Science (H/SS) elective requirements can be fulfilled with courses listed under HUM, ELIT, AMER, HART, IR, POLS, COMD, SOC, PSYC, ANT, HCIV, PHIL, EDEB, HIST (excluding compulsory history courses, and the courses MUS 951/952.

ECON 201, 202 and language courses listed under GER, FRE, ITA, SPA, RUS, FRL, JAP and TURK 125, 201, 202, 203, 204, 401, 403, 404 can also be taken towards fulfillment of the H/SS requirements.

If a student believes that a course with a designation not appearing above should be considered as a H/SS course, the student should contact his/her advisor and if appropriate petition to the department for the course to be be added to the list.

Courses directly contributing to professional development (including technical courses listed under the above designations, computer skills courses, language translation courses, etc.) and practical courses (such as drawing, painting, musical instrument skills, etc.) are not allowed under this requirement, even if they have one of the above designations.

A course with a content that is similar to one of EEE curriculum courses is also not allowed.
