Past Research Projects
- Base Station Cooperation In Wireless Cellular Networks: Novel Distributed Transmission Techniques and The Analysis of Cooperation Gains
Developing cooperative transmission techniques with high spectral efficiency and that are fully distributed and analysis of feasibility of base station cooperation (Principle Investigator, grant awarded by The Scientific and
Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), 02/2008-08/2010).
- Distributed Transmission for Cooperative Multiuser Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Systems
Information theoretic analysis of cooperative multiuser MIMO wireless communication systems and development of novel transmission schemes for such systems
(Principle Investigator, grant awarded by The Sixth European
Union Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development
(FP6) Marie Curie Actions, 01/2006-01/2008).
- Worldwide Interoperability Microwave Broadband Access System for Next Generation Wireless Communications (WiMAGIC)
Developing novel and innovative techniques for future generation WiMAX networks (Researcher, grant awarded by The Seventh European Union Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7), 01/2008-01/2011).
- Antenna
Analysis and Propagation Modelling for MIMO Systems
Developing MIMO channel models that incorporates mutual coupling
between antenna elements, analyzing the
effects of mutual coupling on system capacity and investigating clustering
and polarization issues in stochastic geometry based MIMO channel models
(Researcher, grant awarded by The Scientific and
Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), 9/2006 - 9/2008).
- Network of Excellence in Wireless Communications ++ (NEWCOM++)
A network that links in a cooperative way 17 partnering European institutions working on addressing fundamendal research problems in the field of wireless networks. (Researcher, grant awarded by The Seventh European Union Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7), 01/2008-01/2011).
- Network of Excellence in Wireless Communications (NEWCOM)
A network that links in a cooperative way over 60 partnering institutions doing research on different aspects of mobile and wireless systems beyond 3G. I collaborated with Prof. Ayhan Altintas of Bilkent University on developing statistical models for MIMO channels, in particular, modeling the effects of antenna mutual coupling and polarization diversity (Researcher, grant awarded by The Sixth European Union Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6), 03/2004-04/2007).
- New Information Society Technologies for Turkey (BTT-Turkiye)
Enhancing the research and technological development capabilities of Bilkent University and increasing its participation in Sixth European Union Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6). (Researcher and Head of Communication Systems Group, grant awarded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), 12/2005-12/2008).
